Cruise Ship Visits to Akaroa Down from 90 to 19 this Summer 2022.

9th May. The return of cruise ships to Akaroa is on the horizon this summer possibly starting as early as October. However, only 19 ships are expected to to visit whereas in previous years before the pandemic up to 90 ships would visit each summer. 
For some locals this is welcome news as the feeling was that fewer ships were more manageable compared to to 90 which was considered to out of control with local amenities and services unable to cope under the pressure.
It is expected the government will be announcing when the New Zealand maritime borders will be opening in the next few weeks.
