This walk attracts walkers of all abilities and ages and is well-maintained, with Marlborough’s climate allowing for pleasant year-round walking.
Depending on the time of year, you’ll head out from Picton’s Cougar Line office between 9-10am and take the relaxing one-hour cruise of Queen Charlotte Sound, enjoying awe-inspiring views not seen by road or the Cook Strait ferry crossing.
Once you reach your drop-off destination of Resolution Bay, you’ll head out on the gentle track set amid lush native forest and ideally placed for spectacular views of Queen Charlotte Sound.
The track gently curves along the shoreline and descends to the historic Furneaux Lodge, where you’ll have the chance to rest, wander the grounds and enjoy refreshments before taking your return boat trip from the Lodge. You’ll arrive back at Picton’s Cougar Line office around 90 minutes later (around 4.30pm).
